Hello! My name is David, owner of Casa Juliana, and I want to tell you its story, my story.
For you to understand and know the reason of Casa Juliana, we need to go back some centuries, when Gabasa was just dedicated to agriculture and livestock.
My family was already living in this village in the XII the century, when they were the owners of a little cereal mill located in the village.
As in the majority of cases, my family earned their daily living thanks to the agriculture and livestock. They were located in small fields, cultivated manually using ploughs and horses. Furthermore, the family nourishment and economy were completed with the raise of rabbits, hens, gooses and pigs.
Since 1893, my family lived in Casa Madart, an ancestral house which continues to be our home today. Casa Juliana was built just next to it, and this is where the workers and croppers who helped my family with the farming tasks used to live.
Over the years, Gabasa, as many other villages in the community of Aragón, has undergone the depopulation significant damage on its peoples, who were looking for better opportunities in bigger towns around and in the capitals of the provinces.
For me, my home and my village mean vivid memories of summers, games, family time, laughter and lovely moments… and as you would understand, it is really hard to see how Gabasa is fading. For this reason, some years ago, I decided to revive myself this marvellous village with the farmhouse Casa Juliana.
We completely refurbished the house with the aim to allow people from over the world to stay here and discover the charms of this marvellous rural area. Our village peace and quiet, the relaxed walks around enjoying the sightseeing and panoramic views of the Barranco de Gabasa and its waterfalls.
Besides, we bet on a complete experience for the travellers, in which not only can they stay at our home, but also get a first-hand knowledge of the farming tasks and take part in its sowing and harvest processes. For that, we count on fields dedicated to the crops of cereals, plantations of almond and olive trees, truffle farming, beekeeping and our family organic garden.
We want restore life in our hometown through activities focused on the agritourism and the preservation of our environment by means of the sustainability and respect for it.
"I hope your stay in Gabasa will bring you rest and comfort.
Enjoy your natural surroundings and come back as often as you like."
